Save Lives and Bring Hope to Those Affected by Suicide

Each year, for the last three yeas, I have participated in the Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk - an extraordinary event where participants from all over the country join together to walk 16 miles over the course of one night. My first year was in NYC, second Washington DC and last June, Boston. I do this in loving memory of Di Ana Pisarri and to raise money for American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Net proceeds help those affected by suicide and mental health conditions by supporting research, advocacy, survivor resources, education, and awareness programs. AFSP has set a bold goal to reduce the suicide rate 20% by the year 2025, and I'm proud to be part of that mission.

I also walk to bring awareness to perimenopausal depression and psychosis. There’s a high rate of suicide in women aged 45–54 years that may be related to the biological changes associated with menopause.  If I had known about this earlier I believe it could have saved our Di Ana's life.  My mission now is to make sure that every woman knows how serious perimenopausal depression and psychosis is so that we together can prevent future suicides.

Thank you for your support in a cause I believe in. Together we can save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.
