It was an honor to be trusted by the Auction Co-Chairs to transform the food and beverage of this 600-person event. At the first Fall meeting for the Spring Auction, Co-Chair Alyssa Wand talked abut her vision for making a real mark on 2019 and our children’s school.

“This is the most incredible event at the school but the food has never matched. Parents are coming with their wallets open to help our children and I want to up our game! Instead of donated chicken fingers and plastic trays of sushi, I want an incredible spread. Does anyone know a caterer who could pull this off?”

I raised my hand.

“I can do it.”

We were off to the races!

For the next six months we planned. The Co-Chairs had their hands full gathering auction items: A Villa in Tuscany, a back stage tour of Ray Donovan with 234 parent Liev Schreiber, …just to name a few. It was time for me to call in a few “food favors”. For the last 20 years I have run and owned restaurants. I have had the honor of working with Chef’s like BONDST (Mark Spitzer), White Street (Floyd Cardoz) and Empellon (Alex Stupak). It occurred to me to gather items and ingredients from these magical NYC restaurants and create a collection of amazing bites, for both eight passed appetizers and for two grand grazing tables. I also tapped into my favorite Italian Market Di Palo’s Fine Foods, Juniors Cheesecake, and Tio Gazpacho. It was an incredible spread!

 
 

It was a record-breaking year and we raised more money for our school than ever before. This wasn’t just because of the food, or the amazing service team by Mustard Lane or the incredible donated wine and spirits. But I do think the wallets fell open a little faster due to that delicious signature cocktail I created with Double Cross Vodka. It was a truly Flaweless event!
